Applies to the Can I ride iOS app and to caniridemybike.com
“Can I ride” answers one question for a US ZIP code: can I ride my bike, now? If something is broken, confusing, or just looks wrong, write to a human at the address below and say what you saw.

What to include so it can be fixed
- The ZIP code you asked about, and roughly when you asked.
- What the app said, and what you expected instead — a screenshot is ideal.
- Your device and iOS version, if it is about the app rather than the website.
The answer is one word
Ride means the window ahead is clean enough to go. Maybe means something in the window is working against you — rain chance, wind, or daylight — and the app names it in the reason line. Don’t means it is not a ride day. The score behind that word is not shown on purpose: one word is the product.
Where the numbers come from
The forecast comes from public forecast services and is matched against what actually happened at the nearest reporting station, so the app can tell you how far off the forecast has been for your city. Fahrenheit and miles per hour, everywhere. See how far off the forecasts have been.
It says there is no connection
The last answer is saved on your device, so it still opens when you have no signal, labelled as the last answer. If you ask for a different ZIP while offline, it will say there is no saved answer for that one until you are back on a connection.
Common questions
- Do I need an account? No. No sign-in, no ads, no analytics, no tracking — see the privacy policy.
- Why does it say Maybe when the sky looks fine? A clear sky is not the only input; gusts, rain chance and the daylight window all count, and the reason line names the one that applies.
- Why Fahrenheit? It is a US ZIP product with no metric switch, so there is no unit puzzle to solve.
- My ZIP was not recognised. Answering is limited to US ZIP codes. Check the five digits; a few ZIP codes share one place.
- How do I stop the reminder? The reminder is one local notification on your own device. Turn it off in iOS Settings → Notifications → Can I ride.
- Is it a safety or navigation app? No. It is weather and riding conditions only — not medical, not safety, not emergency, not navigation.
